Among the big screen’s upcoming treats for 2024 is Wajahat Rauf’s Daghabaaz Dil. The eagerly anticipated film is set to unite three Pakistani stars—Mehwish Hayat, Ali Rehman Khan and Momin Saqib. The announcement was made by director Wajahat Rauf who took to Instagram with an exciting picture of him at breakfast with his leading cast except Saqib.

Rauf, who is also known for hosting the popular web talk show Voice Over Man, has collaborated with all three of his leading cast previously: with Hayat in his 2019 directorial feature Chhalawa, with Khan in his 2022 film Parde Mein Rehne Do and with Saqib, in Rauf’s highly acclaimed 2020 drama series Raqs-e-Bismil.

In the post’s caption, Rauf joyously called Daghabaaz Dil his “Film # 5” and proceeded to announce the upcoming film’s release for Eid ul Fitr, 2024. On a humorous note, the director-actor added a ‘post-script’ to his caption, saying, “Had to wake up early today, excuse the face.”

Aside from Rauf’s directorial prowess, the film has enlisted Mohsin Ali as writer whereas Badar Ikram, Rauf and his wife, Shazia Wajahat serve as producers. While the plot details remain tightly under wraps, the film’s intriguing title Daghabaaz Dil, hints at a romance alongside a candid exploration of human relationships. With such a stellar cast on board, audiences can anticipate a rollercoaster of emotions and laughter.

Last year, Rauf landed himself in hot water with his drama series Hadsa for allegedly disregarding the feelings motorway rape survivor, who reportedly lamented about Hadiqa Kiani’s portrayal of her life onscreen. The story of Hadsa revolves around Taskeen, played by Kiani, who is also subjected to a heinous crime, and her quest to seek justice. 

The serial was brought into question when journalist Fereeha Idrees took to X to share a rather distressing conversation with Z – the survivor of the actual motorway incident – that revealed she had never allowed for such a serial to be produced on her life, let alone to have to relive it while watching the show. 

In response, Rauf contended that while the series did have an element of familiarity as it, too, displayed an incident on a highway, other elements and dynamics were fictional. “The drama is not based on the motorway incident…The only thing common is the part that the incident occurred on a highway,” Wajahat pointed out.
