Young KP voters to play key role in Feb 8 polls


Number of female voters is 45% while male voters dominate with 55% in the province

PESHAWAR: Young voters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who are aged between 18 to 35, will play an important role in determining the results of the upcoming general elections slated for February 8, The News reported Tuesday. 

The number of registered voters up to age 35 is the highest among all age groups which is 10,791,779, accounting for 49.74%. 

Similarly, the number of registered voters between 36 and 45 years old is 4,420,754, while the number of voters between 46 and 55 years old is 2,847,155.

Meanwhile, the proportion of voters aged 56 to 65 years in the province is the lowest which is 1,810,333, accounting for only 8%. Similarly, the number of voters above 66 is reported to be 1,822,360.

The number of female voters is 45%, while male voters dominate with 55% in the province.

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) documents, the total number of voters in KP is 21,692,381 with 9,861,698 female voters and 11,830,683 male voters.

In 2018, the number of male voters in the province was 8,704,628 while the number of female voters was 6,609,541.

However, in 2019, the number of male voters increased to 10,817,960, and the number of female voters was 8,132,940. Similarly, in 2020, the number of male voters was 11,076,763, and the number of female voters was 8,457,201.

In 2021, the number of male voters increased to 11,486,688, and the number of female voters was 9,124,560. 

The number of female voters has now reached 9,861,698, while in 2023, the number of male voters has increased to 11,830,683.
