In a major update, Sean Monahan is going to Winnipeg Jets after the Montreal Canadiens reportedly agreed to trade the veteran center, Bleach Report said Friday.

In turn, the Canadiens will get the first-round pick and a conditional draft, as per Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

The first-rounder is in 2024, and the conditional pick is a 2027 third-rounder, said TSN’s Pierre LeBrun.

At the conclusion of the season, Monahan, who has been with Montreal for the last two seasons, is poised to transition into unrestricted free agency.

The Canadiens — two summers back — acquired Sean Monahan and his $6.38 million cap hit from the Calgary Flames in exchange for a conditional first-round pick.

Monahan has 13 goals and 35 points in 49 games this season as the 29-year-old player was restricted to 25 games last year due to injury. He currently holds the No. 3 position on the latest TSN Trade Bait board.

Over his 730-game NHL career split between Montreal and Calgary, Monahan has lit the lamp 231 times, while also accumulating 514 points.
